Tuesday, our LCP team was out on Avenue U conducting our regular evening walk-through to help keep the neighborhood safe and connected.
What we focused on:
Visible presence along storefronts and residential blocks
Checking in with local businesses
Monitoring for quality-of-life concerns
Assisting residents with questions and information
We’re happy to report a calm evening overall, with no major incidents observed. Our volunteers engaged with several neighbors and business owners, reinforcing the importance of staying alert and reporting anything unusual.

During our patrol, LCP members responded immediately to a call from a merchant on Avenue U who reported a serious disturbance at a neighboring deli. The caller stated there was loud arguing and aggressive behavior, and the store’s door was being shut forcefully.
Our team quickly arrived on scene to assess the situation. Upon arrival, we learned that an individual had been causing trouble inside the deli, and the merchant suspected the individual may have been carrying a knife.
When the individual noticed LCP members on site, he fled the area. Our team immediately coordinated through radio communication to share information and ensure everyone’s safety. The central LCP member promptly followed up and assisted with following up with theNYPD 61st Precinct
We are grateful for the quick action of the 61 Precinct and LCP patrol members and the vigilance of our local merchants. Community safety is always our top priority. If you see something, say something. Together, we keep our neighborhood safe.

Community Update from Local Community Patrol (LCP)
LCP received a message from a concerned local resident regarding dangerous ice accumulation on the roof of the Avenue U Q train station. The ice was hanging over the roadway and posed a serious risk to pedestrians and passing vehicles.
Our team immediately took action and requested assistance from the 45th DistrictAssemblymember Michael Novakhov’s Office. We are grateful for their quick response and coordination with the MTA.
The MTA crew promptly arrived on site, removed the ice, and secured the area. The location is now safe for everyone.
Thank you to the resident who reported the issue, Assemblyman Novakhov’s Office for their support, and the MTA for their swift action. This is what strong community partnership looks like!

On Thursday afternoon, the LCP team conducted a community patrol along Avenue U, engaging with local residents and business owners to help ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
Our patrol focused on observing street conditions, promoting pedestrian safety, and addressing quality-of-life concerns in the area. We also took time to speak with community members, listen to their concerns, and remind everyone that LCP is always here to support our neighborhood.
