Patrol on Ave U turned into a heroic moment! Local Community Patrol sprang into action when a downed power wire posed a threat. With quick coordination, we assisted FDNY Engine 276 in clearing the area, ensuring safety for all. Big thanks to NYPD 61st Precinct and FDNY for their swift response! Thankfully, no one was harmed. Special shoutout to one of our members with firefighting experience for his calm and decisive action. Proud to serve our community!

3/16/2024, a massive rally took place in Bensonhurst, as thousands of residents and a convoy of vehicles assembled to voice their opposition to plans for a homeless shelter at 2501 86th Street. Amidst the bustling crowd and spirited chants, LCP stood vigilant, ensuring peace and order throughout the event.

We were deeply honored to have Assemblyman Michael Novakhov, Brooklyn Community Board member Theresa Scavo, and 61st Precinct Community Affairs Officer and Auxiliary Officer in attendance. Their support and presence underscore the importance of our mission to ensure community safety.

During the meeting, we discussed the significant impact of LCP on community safety compared to last year. According to 61st Precinct statistics, the crime rate on Ave U has decreased, showcasing the effectiveness of our efforts.

One of the highlights of the evening was recognizing the heroic actions of two LCP members who intervened in a physical assault incident on the subway, ultimately saving a teenager. Assemblyman Novakhov presented them with citations, and they were awarded the Excellent Community Service award by both the 61st Precinct and LCP President. Their bravery and quick thinking exemplify the spirit of our organization.

Today during our patrol in Sheepshead Bay, we encountered a distressing situation where a group of teenagers was physically assaulting another teenager on the subway. Without hesitation, we raised our voices and intervened, causing the assailants to flee. The injured victim was in critical condition, bleeding profusely, prompting us to immediately dial 911 and request an ambulance. We stayed by the victim‘s side, offering comfort and assistance while awaiting emergency responders. Simultaneously, we relayed the situation to our LCP member at the center via radio, who swiftly alerted the 61st Precinct officers. Thanks to our collective efforts, police officers arrived quickly, arrested four of the perpetrators. We remained on the scene to provide support and ensure the safety of all involved. We are grateful for the opportunity to patrol today, knowing that our presence prevented further harm to the victim. We continued our patrol after the situation is settled.
